What’s to come: Game plan for this week, May 6
Well I’ve been learning a ton about SEO! That is Search Engine Optimization. In other words, there are 2 main parts of a website. The look/feel and the back-end “stuff” that allows Search Engines like Google/Bing/Yahoo find your site. The “stuff” entails key words the people search for, descriptions of the site, etc. Basically if you aren’t on the first page of a search engine result page, you are invisible to the public. Makes sense, how often do you even go past the first result? I’ve signed up for a bunch of social media sites, RSS feeds, and social bookmarking sites. These sites help my site score with search engines. Building out my list of key words and analyzing them too. Need to cut down those suckers a bit! But not bad when myriad of ideas is #1 on a Google search! Not much competition for the site’s name. So that’s good, now time to concentrate on building out the podcast portion. You will see I added an Plugin that allows you to see similar stories on the website via pictures (yes I know I need to go through the site and add thumbnails). That’s on my to-do list.
This week we will have at least 2 podcasts with HHS 94 classmates. One will be on Tuesday and the other is TBD. I also plan on doing a Video Tutorial on Pivots tables with my Google Analytics’ data from myriadofideas.com. So I will SHARE with you how many visitors I have received since February 2nd. Note, this is all before my SEO project to make the site more searchable and signing up for all the other sites. Should be interesting to see if I get a big bump in my visitor counts. I may do one more video tutorial on how to add RSS to your MS Outlook and/or subscribe to iTunes.
One thing I wanted to mention is I did do a quick blog on my smart phone, but please take a read of the last paragraph on an idea that I have for the future of smartphones. I think I made a mistake on the blog’s title, as a couple Facebook comments only mentioned whether or not they could live without their phone. Click here to read the blog entry.
It dawned on me that it would be interesting to share some undergrad creative writing stories I had to write. So I plan on converting them to PDF and posting them somewhere 😉 Have to find them first 🙂
Well that’s all for tonight! Thanks for your time and please do share! Please notice the new buttons I added for you to share with Tumblr, Pinterest, Reddit, etc. Get the word out.
